Summer 2008 Research Scholar Program Student Comments "What I Liked Most about My Position":
- "My position was always exciting, fast paced, and interesting. I was exposed to several different areas of medicine, which I found all to be fascinating. This position has really opened my eyes to how many options there are in the healthcare profession, and has made me even more excited to pursue a career in medicine."
- "I like the camaradarie I have with the dental residents and other dental staff and the way in which they are so willing to answer my questions. I enjoy the one on one experience I get with the attendings and residents who can give me expert advice on dental schools, applications, etc. I also enjoy the freedom I had with working on my project and having the ability to shape it into my own."
- "I love the opportunities this position provides me with to perform research that may have a real impact on patients and doctors. I felt like I have learned so much about how research is conducted, and that is very important to me...I have greatly enjoyed observing in the OR. Observing a living donor kidney transplant was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
Below, please find examples of the outstanding contributions made by our Research Scholars and descriptions of their research and experiences while participating in the program here at LVHHN. Research was presented by each of the scholars on July 25, 2008 in the form of poster and oral presentations. Examples listed were selected based on judging evaluations. Congratulations to all our scholars!
